When I was a very young girl, there were several summers in a row that my family would pile in the car and take a road trip halfway across the country to visit my grandparents. And you could bet on that drive taking us through the Southwest. And you could bet that at some point we would be stopping at a rest stop that sold real Native American jewelry. And every time I see turquoise jewelry it reminds me of those long drives and climbing out of the car into the hot, dry desert air, stretching my legs and checking my Holly Hobbie wallet to see if I had saved up enough for a souvenir. I know I would have bought these earrings if I had seen them.
